چکیده

Background: Extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESβL) or metallo-β-lactamase (MβL) production by gram-negative bacteria in immunocompromised patients poses a serious therapeutic challenge for infection control and is associated with infections higher morbidity/mortality, especially developing countries. This study aimed to phenotypically evaluate the of ESβL as well MβL 75 bacterial isolates from clinical samples human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) positive individuals. Methods: Bacterial identification was chromogenic media, analytical profile index 20 E, NE kits, tested double-disc synergy test (DDST) combination disc method, while screened imipenem ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) combined EDTA-disc potentiation ceftazidime. Results: Altogether, 57 (76.0%) produced either DDST (6), method (49), both (2). detected enzyme 10.7% which were all Pseudomonas aeruginosa. None revealed imipenem/imipenem-EDTA whereas 26.7% using ceftazidime out 65.0% P. Moreover, ESβL/MβL co-production evident 22.7% aeruginosa constituting 64.7%. Conclusion: among studied indicates heightened resistance β-lactam antibiotics, suggesting grave health consequences, individuals already limiting options region. The compared isolates, predominating producing specie being aeruginosa, detection ceftazidime, respectively.

Efficacy of Amikacin and Imipenem Against Multi-Drug Resistant Gram-Negative Bacteria Isolated From Wound Infections

Background and Objective: Gram-negative pathogens are considered the common cause of wound infections associated with increased mortality and morbidity rates. Antibiotics combination has been used to overcome this problem. Aims: In this study, we identify Gram-negative pathogens found in wound infections and assess the in-vitro efficacy of a combination of amikacin and imipenem against the resi...

Antagonistic activity of Streptomyces gresiofuscus PTCC1628 against isolated Gram negative bacteria from Urinary Tract Infections

Antibiotics are the best known products of actinomycete. Over 5,000 antibiotics have been identified from the cultures of Gram positive and Gram-negative organisms, and filamentous fungi, but only about 100 antibiotics have commercially been used to treat human, animal and plant diseases. The genus, Streptomycete, is responsible for the formation of more than 60% of known antibiotics. Bacteri...

Assessment of ultrasound irradiation on inactivation of gram negative and positive bacteria isolated from hospital in aqueous solution

Microbial contamination of water poses a major threat to public health. With the emergence of microorganisms resistant to multiple antimicrobial agents, there is increased request for promotion of disinfection methods. Since ultrasound wave (US) exhibits antibacterial activities on bacteria, the aim of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial effect of low frequency (37 kHz) ultrasound on P...
